The band&#8217;s\nsound has refined over their releases on Kscope, beginning with the technically\nastounding metal on&nbsp;<em>Emergence<\/em>&nbsp;to the more industrial and\nprogressive-influenced<em>&nbsp;Faced With Rage<\/em>. Now, with&nbsp;<em>Inescapable<\/em>,\nthe band have channelled their energy and technical ability into the melody,\nphrasing and vocal performance, allowing emotion to take centre stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The band found themselves wanting a definitive theme running through<strong><em> Inescapable<\/em><\/strong><em>,<\/em> without turning it into a concept album, of being more open, more personal and ultimately one that shines an inquisitive light on <strong>Charles\u2019s <\/strong>struggle with inner demons which gave the songs a new level of intimacy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em> Lyrically, I\u2019ve always shared personal thoughts, feelings and experiences but in a very ambiguous way. For <strong>Inescapable<\/strong> &#8211; in a conscious effort not to repeat ourselves \u2013 I thought I\u2019d be a little more self-reflective and perhaps examine some of my inner demons. I have a strange relationship with music, and especially playing guitar. I would struggle to survive without either, but equally they have made my life mentally torturous because my own self-worth is completely wrapped up in them. I used to be very much a perfectionist in my early years, and whilst some people may wear that as a badge of honour, I eventually viewed it as huge heavy weight dragging down. It was a long time before I arrived at the realisation that perfection was impossible to achieve.? <\/em>elaborates Darran Charles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Cpk9H3P9Mkc?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perfectly\nhighlighting the album\u2019s leitmotif, the band reveal their first single\n Denigrate,  <em>the writing of this song was a sort of analysis\nof my ongoing battle with perfectionism and the general feeling that nothing\nyou do ever meets the impossibly high standards you set for yourself. <\/em>The\nsongfeatures additional vocals from\nTesseracT\u2019s gifted vocalist Daniel Tompkins to record vocal harmonies, adding\nan extra layer of aggression and energy.<em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The shoot for the quirky video, directed by George\nLaycock (Blacktide Audio\/Visual) proved to be a memorable day for the band as Godsticks drummer Tom Price recalls  <em>Everyone in the band\nwas so excited about the concept, but when we arrived on set and saw a large\ntable full of cakes, sweets, chocolate, sugar, sprinkles, honey and all manners\nof confectionary, the magnitude of what we had all let ourselves in for finally\ndawned on us! By the end of the shoot we were completely covered in everything\n&#8211; it was like &#8216;The Great British Bake Off&#8217; meets &#8216;Apocalypse Now&#8217;!
