Features bass contributions from Mariusz Duda (Lunatic Soul, Riverside)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Progressive alternative rockers Pure Reason Revolution return with their new album \u2018Terrifying Angels\u2019, their fourth since reemerging in 2019. The record will be released on the 25th<\/sup> September 2026, with the band set to embark on a UK headline tour in November 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now the band are pleased to reveal the second single from the album, titled \u2018Black-Arrow Acrobats\u2019, which features a bass contribution from Mariusz Duda (Lunatic Soul, Riverside). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Band-leader Jon Courtney comments: “I had a lot of fun creating this track\u2014it came together quickly and became a rollercoaster full of surprises. Lyrically, it explores escaping a consuming relationship where grief blurs reality and fantasy. It\u2019s my favourite on the album, and Mariusz Duda\u2019s exquisite bass performance makes it even more special.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the somewhat gentler, moving themes of sorrow and transience guiding 2024\u2019s \u2018Coming up to Consciousness\u2019, the new sound is dark and potent, full of savage riffs, ominous soundscapes, and thrashing, grungy layers \u2013 melded, of course, with the band\u2019s signature transcendent harmonies. \u201cThe last record was more chill, so it just felt terribly natural to do something grittier, heavier and more aggressive,\u201d Courtney explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The core trio of Jon Courtney, Annicke Shireen & Ravi Kesavaram are joined by a cast of collaborators for the album, featuring old friends and new partners alike. The eponymous song was born out of a jam session in Portland, Oregon, with founding bandmate Greg Jong, who also co-wrote \u201cRumination Ruin\u201d. Meanwhile \u201cHaywire Heart\u201d and \u201cHold Your Wrath\u201d \u2013 respectively the shortest and longest tracks in PRR\u2019s discography \u2013 were both written alongside Paul Mullen, the alt-rock legend who fronted Losers and Yourcodenameis:milo. Finally, \u201cBelow Radiance\u201d grew out of a section from a composition by Courtney\u2019s mentee Kenny Fitzgerald.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The album also features bass contributions from Mariusz Duda and Kristoffer Gildenl\u00f6w, while mixing duties are once again handled by Bruce Soord of The Pineapple Thief. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
